The Best Frozen Peanut Butter Yogurt Dog Treats

Peanut Butter Pupsicles. These sweet, healthy treats will make you happy and make your dog’s tail wag!  Your dog will love them because they are a sweet treat in a real bone that they can chew on after the goodies inside are gone.

You’ll be happy that they are made with healthy ingredients, take only minutes to make, and are extremely economical.  Best of all, they will have your active pupper busy for at least 10 minutes!

As a puppy, my Australian Cattle Dog Josie would scarf down a treat in a half-second, literally!  I felt like she was done and wanting more before I even walked away from her.  So, I went on the lookout for something that would take some time for her to demolish.

Dog Treats Without Pumpkin

We had gone through so many other options. We tried hooves, but they smelled AWFUL!  Same with Bullie Sticks. They kept her busy for a little while, but at a price. The smell, the mess and, well, the price!$

Then we discovered Frozen Peanut Butter Yogurt Dog Treats.

I was originally inspired to make Pup-sicles by a friend who made them with pumpkin, yogurt and put them in Kongs to freeze.

My dog has had adverse reactions to pumpkin, so I switched to peanut butter.  Kongs are great but a little too pricey to buy several.

So, I found dog safe (Not cooked) bones at my pet food store and substituted peanut butter for pumpkin and we were in business.

Bones that are cooked may splinter and hurt your dog.

I use inexpensive natural peanut butter.  NEVER use peanut butter with xylitol! It is poisonous to dogs.  Please check your labels.  I don’t worry about the sugar in my Pup-sicles because I don’t use that much peanut butter.

The second ingredient is Plain, NonFat Greek Yogurt.  Again, I buy an inexpensive brand.  Make sure it has no artificial sweeteners in it just to be safe.

I don’t really measure, I just use the ratio of about 1:3 or 1:4.  1 part peanut butter to 3 or 4 parts yogurt.

Mix it up in a bowl and stuff the mixture into clean, dry bones.  Always wash bones and allow them to dry before re-stuffing.

Also, check for any sharp edges and discoloration each
time.  As dark spots on reused bones could me mold.  Discard and get new when necessary.  They last a long time, but not forever.

The peanut butter thickens the yogurt to make it less gloppy, so it’s easy to put in the bones.

Once the bones are stuffed, put them in a freezer-safe container, being careful not to let the mixture in one bone touch another. (They will freeze together if you are not careful).  Now just throw them in the freezer

For best results, leave them overnight. But, a couple of hours will do if you need them sooner. (They will just be eaten faster)

Frozen Peanut Butter Yogurt Dog Treats

It usually takes my food hound at least 10 minutes to finish one depending on the size.  I know that doesn’t seem long, but, it’s longer than  anything else we’ve tried!  And, Josie loves them. Just see for yourself!
